Youth Outdoor Leadership Workshop  (June 28-29)

Interested in becoming an Environmental Education Leader and fulfilling your community service hours? Participants who are between the ages of 13-15 will participate in a 2-day workshop to learn the fundamentals of leadership and youth outdoor education such as team building, health and safety, activity structure, creating guidelines, motivation, self-awareness and effective communication. They will have the opportunity to explore and test out some of our planned camp activites and design one of their own! To complete the leadership certification participants MUST volunteer at one of our Nature Explorer Camp weeks during July and August.

The Nature Explorer Camp is a week-long outdoor education camp that is run by Fleming College and Kawartha Conservation to children 6-10 years of age.  The camp teaches children about nature and the environment through fun hands on activities.  Each day of the camp is a new theme with new activities.  Our camps run from 8:00-4:30 pm throughout July and August.  The camp locations alternate between Fleming College Campus in Lindsay and Ken Reid Conservation Area.  For more information about the camp please check out the following link:  http://frostcampus.wixsite.com/naturecamp

The expectations of the volunteer during the camp week is to utilize their leadership skills previously learned in the 2 day workshop, help lead camp activities, engage with children attending camp through effective communication, help with daily camp duties etc...The participant at the end will acquire 40 hours of community services hours.
