Week Three:  Drawing, Illustration, and Design

In this session, campers will learn the basics of drawing and illustration and how to design their own characters for a short storybook.

Joe Tennis Guest Artist: JOE TENNIS

Joe grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he began writing while in elementary school - first a book on Elvis Presley, then a comical satire of his fellow fifth grade students.

He has since written thousands of articles for newspapers and magazines about places from California to Florida. But he has become best known as an expert on the history and folklore of Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina.

The author's most comical book is 2011's "Finding Franklin: Mystery of the Lost State Capitol" (Backyard Books), a children's adventure novel that takes place in the three states that the author loves the most - Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina - and featuring a pick-your-own-plot format. The book is illustrated and follows a cast of zany characters, trying to solve the mystery of what happened to the capitol building for a real-life "lost state" named for Benjamin Franklin.

*All camps are recommended for ages 7-13 and are held from 9:00am to 4:00pm daily.

*Discounts are available to full-day registraints with friends or siblings! Please call the studio for more information.

*Mixed Media Mania Art Camp is designed to allow campers to experiment with an array of artistic methods and mediums.  Each week of MMM is packed with fun right-brain activities and focuses on a different art medium. Layering techniques explored each week, students are encouraged to create their own mixed media masterpieces.
