Kansas Key Leader 2018

What is Key Leader?

Key Leader is a weekend program focusing on encouraging high school students to explore what it means to be a servant leader. The Key Leader program is built on five essential principles. These principles reflect our mission to inspire young people to achieve their personal best through service leadership:

Personal Integrity: Doing the right thing
Personal Growth: Developing in mind, body, and spirit
Respect: Showing consideration for self, others, and property
Building Community: Developing relationships to achieve positive goals
Pursuit of Excellence: Expecting and achieving the best

Check out previous years activities on the Kansas Key Leader FB Page

Finding Funding

Finding funding to attend Key Leader sounds like a tough job. It is NOT!

First, try to contact your local Kiwanis club and ask for either $225 if you are a member of the Kiwanis Family or $250 if you are not a member of the Kiwanis Family. In case the Kiwanis club questions sponsorship of a student, be prepared to offer Key Leader background about the program or have the club contact one of the contacts listed on this page. They will be more than willing to assit in getting your experience funded.
Of course, you can be sponsored by your Church, School, Club, or Organization that chooses to do so.

Our goal is to find a way to get any student interested to experience Key Leader!  We are here to help!

Registration

You will need the following information to register:

contact information for the student participant, including phone, email and USPS address;
contact information for the sponsor (if there appropriate);
information on which Kiwanis Club is sponsoring you (if appropriate);
most important, your emergency contact (phone number, name, relationship).

(For your convenience, we have a checklist for you to use to gather your information on)

In addition, we're going to ask you a few more questions, like are you a Key Clubber or a Builders Clubber, what size of t-shirt you want, and what, if any, types of food you shouldn't be eating.

OK? Got all that?  Well, click the button and let's get going!

Each Student Participant must complete the following documents (and have them signed by a Parent or Legal Guardian) before they may participate in Key Leader.

Key Leader Mediacl Release Form
Youth Health Participation Form
Community Values Agreement

Completed (and signed forms) may be send to the Kansas DIstrict Office via email at secretary@kskiwanis.org

Kiwanians and Chaperones
Chaperons and Kiwanians bring something else to the program event that is of great value.  They bring that previous experience and desire to "participate".  They are the ones who recognize those students that need a little encouragement or nudge.  They are the ones who help create the value added experience to the event for both students, new chaperones, and veterans.
For first time we are asking Chaperones for a $100 donation. (Not a requirment, but an opportunity to ensure that our Key Leader program is adequately funded now and in the future.)

Each Chaperone must complete an Adult Health Participation Form
ALL Chaperones are REQUIRED to have an approved Kiwanis Background check completed prior to participating in the Key event.
