Sunday. April 15, 2018 2:30 pm "The Supreme Mystery" Colin McAllister, guitar
Always an audience favorite, guitarist, Colin McAllister returns to Benet Hill again this Spring. The French anthropologist and ethnologist Claude Levi Strauss wrote that the invention of melody is "The supreme mystery in the sciences of man." This concert celebrates the creation of melody through a variety of works from different historical periods. You will hear two concerti; the early 18th century Concerto in D Major by Antonio Vivaldi, and from the pen of Bristish Composer Richard Harvey, the thrilling and virtuosic Concerto Antico. Rounding out the program are pieces by Hildegard von Bingen, Radames Gnattali and Joaquin Turina with pianist, Kelly Zuercher.
