Learn from Scholarship Applicant, Lorise Diamond
Hear from Lorise Diamond, one of our amazing transfer students, as she shares her experience applying to and winning scholarships.
Lorise honed the skills necessary for winning scholarships since attending Southwestern College. There, she won an Associated Students Association Scholarship along with three private scholarships. Her ability has grown through persistence. As a fourth-year SDSU transfer student, Lorise is a Communication major seeking double minors in Sociology and Interdisciplinary Studies.
As an SDSU student, Lorise earned three scholarships through the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships: Gracia Mae Ogden Memorial, Dale M. Shoettler Memorial, and SDSU Alumni Association.
Lorise has dedicated her extracurricular hours toward building robust and confident student leaders. Her leadership and campus service spans roles in the PSFA Civil Core, Lambda Pi Eta, National Society of Leadership and Success and she is an active member of Phi Kappa Phi, Mortar Board, Scholars Without Borders, and Engineers Without Borders. One way leaders are empowered is through winning scholarships. Scholarship funds has helped relieve financial worries while Lorise concentrates on what it means to pursue excellence.
Lorise is also a scholar in the Weber Honors College, EOP and a volunteer for our Transfer Student Achievement initiative.
