Finding Compassionate Responses to Difficult Losses: Substance Abuse, Overdose and/or Suicide
Some losses are clear; others are ambiguous. Whatever the loss, grief occurs for all involved. In this experiential session, participants that are facing losses resulting from substance abuse, overdose and/or suicide will gather and be led in exploring and finding compassionate responses. These
compassionate responses will include care for self, for those using substances, and for one’s friends and family.
The emphasis here will be on compassionate responses, not on information about addictions, nor on advocacy, nor on a particular point of view. Rather, the time will be devoted to compassionate responses…which may include boundaries, accountability, and deep caring.
