On-Site Sewage Systems: Homeowner Education Course

You are invited to attend a three-hour course to learn about on-site sewage systems (conventional and aerobic), including maintenance, inspection, and available homeowner resources. The class will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 5, at the Sam and Carmena Goss Memorial Branch Library, 1 John Hall Drive, Mont Belvieu.

Repairing or replacing a failing on-site sewage system can cost homeowners thousands of dollars. A failing system can also pollute area waterways and increase the likelihood of waterborne illness for swimmers, boaters, and people using area waterways for recreation.

Regular maintenance and inspection of a system can protect public and environmental health, increase system longevity, and protect private property use and value.

The goal of this course is to reduce the number of failing on-site sewage systems in the Houston-Galveston region and improve overall water quality.

During this free three-hour course, participants will receive:

  • An overview of the two types of systems.
  • Information on system maintenance and inspection.
  • Details on available resources to maintain, repair and replace aging systems.

To request a copy of course materials, see additional resource materials, or for more information, please e-mail Will Merrell.

DISCLAIMER This course is designed to instruct and educate homeowners on the basics of septic system and onsite sewage facility (OSSF) maintenance and visual inspection. It does not provide for or allow homeowners to inspect their own aerobic system in place of a maintenance contract.

Please forward this invitation to friends, neighbors, and colleagues who may be interested in learning about on-site sewage system maintenance.
