“We Talked About It....Why do I Need to Practice It?”

Children aren't perfect listeners in early childhood. They didn't learn to engage in this unwanted behavior because you told them to do it, right? "Please throw yourself on the floor when I tell you 'no'." They learned to tantrum because they haven't yet learned to do something better and because of how the environment received that communication. They learned because of what happened to them afterwards, like getting out of something they'd rather not do or a need being met with help or attention provided. Did that tantrum work for your child? If children learned behavior regulation by us telling them the rules, there would be no need to have positive discipline strategies, early childhood education, and parent support during this phase of development. We will teach you how to create opportunities to practice what your child SHOULD do when his/her "switch" is on.  Join us on May 2nd, May 8th and May 17th at 830 pm CST.
