Introduction to Jyotisha
as a Tool for Self-Awareness 

The Vedic sciences offer us many avenues for understanding ourselves and how we relate to the world in which we live. 
 
This workshop focuses on the path of Jyotisha, Vedic Astrology, as an avenue toward self-realization and is designed to usher participants toward a practical understanding of how to use Jyotisha in a practical way. This session is appropriate for both those who are totally new to Jyotisha and for those who already have some familiarity but who wish to deepen their understanding of this practice.

The wisdom that comes through jyotisha, the science of light, is used in different ways by different people at different times. Jyotisha can help illuminate personal strengths and weaknesses, identify karmic patterns that repeat within a lifetime, outline chapters in one’s life and offer ideas for how to remedy difficult situations or amplify positive conditions.

Jyotisha is a method of relating the macrocosm to the microcosm, which brings a more unified perspective of life events, conditions, relationships and more. Within jyotisha, we consider time, space, direction, elements, light and cycles and marry those considerations with the mysterious and divergent nature of human desire to gain a better understanding of both the self and the environment in which the self functions. These revelations can be quite helpful at nearly any level of spiritual unfoldment or personal development.
 
Kerry will introduce the basic concepts of jyotisha, including:

- brief history and basic functions
- archetypes of the planets and signs
- houses as domains of life, decorated by signs and inhabited by planets
- drawing the natal chart
- reading and understanding natal chart
- how and when to get a personal reading
- how to learn more

Participants will gain a foundation from which they can begin to read the birth chart as a karmic blueprint that helps to answer the questions that generally lead one ever further down the path: who am I? where am I? why am I here? what should I do? how can I get somewhere else?

Participants should give their birth information at the time of registration (name, birth date, birth time, birth location) if they would like a copy of their natal chart.
