VESA Taipei Workshop 2018

VESA will be bringing the experts to you in an informative half-day workshop. You will have the opportunity to meet and interact with experts face-to-face to discuss the latest display-related developments in PC and mobile devices including DisplayPort, DisplayPort Alt Mode (DisplayPort over USB-C), DisplayHDR and other new and future developments. VESA will include updates on new display standards under development to address the needs for higher bandwidth, more vibrant display colors, as well as new and emerging applications such as augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR) and beyond-4K-resolution mobile video streaming. Designed for managers, engineers, and program administrators, the Workshop agenda will include the following topics:

• DisplayHDR is the display industry’s first open HDR standard with publicly available test tools
  • The DisplayHDR standard establishes three distinct performance levels of HDR display performance to facilitate adoption of HDR throughout the PC market

• DisplayPort across mobile and personal computing industries via the USB Type-C connector with DisplayPort Alt Mode
  • DisplayPort Alt Mode is the de-facto video transport used by devices with the USB Type-C connector

• New Developments in Display Data Compression
  • VESA’s Display Stream Compression (DSC) standard has achieved widespread success in enabling video transport compression
  • Working in conjunction with the MIPI Alliance, VESA is now finalizing its new VDC-M compression standard, which is specifically geared toward embedded handheld display applications within a smartphone

• Next Generation DisplayPort
  • VESA is has started development on the next-generation DisplayPort standard that will increase data rates by two-fold and beyond to enable future performance requirements of traditional displays
• VESA DisplayPort Compliance Update
