Athletic Entry Form - Colorado Scottish Festival and Rocky Mountain Highland Games 

Citizens Park, Edgewater, Colorado         August 4 & 5, 2018
 

Entry Fee: $45 covers all entries in one class, games T-shirt, gate passes & lunch day of competition only.

Additional Gate Passes: May be purchased separately in advance at www.scottishgames.org/tickets or at the gate. ($10 Adult / $5 Youth(12-17), Senior (65+), Acitive Military)

Registration: In advance by July 22, 2018. Field entries must pay a $50 field entry fee; accepted between 7:30-8:30 a.m. on competition day only if space is available.

Schedule: Posted by 8:30 a.m. each day; events will start at 9:00 a.m.

Classifications: Men’s A, Men’s B, Men’s C, Men’s Masters, Men’s Under 200 lbs., Women’s Open, Women’s Under 150 lbs. & Women’s Masters. Both Masters classes are for athletes 40 years old & over.

 

General Rules for All Athletic Competition:

• Competitors must be kilted. A few kilts will be available for a $10 rental fee.

• Saturday events will include the Men’s A, Men’s C, Women’s Open, Women’s Under 150 lbs. & Women’s Masters (40 & over)

• Sunday events will include Men’s B, Men’s Under 200 lbs. and Men’s Masters (40 & over; scoring includes per year handicap).

• Athletes are allowed to compete in only one class.

• All warm-up throws must be completed prior to scheduled event start time.

• All competitors must be members of Rocky Mountain Scottish Athletes (RMSA) or an equivalent organization. RMSA membership forms will be available on the field.

  • Returned checks DO NOT constitute an entry. The Games Committee will add a collection fee to the amount of each  returned check, as well as late fees when applicable.
  • There will be no refund for duplicate entries, nor for disqualifications or dismissals.
  • The Games Committee reserves the right to cancel, combine, or add events, reject any entry, or to make other changes  as necessary within the guidelines of the sanctioning organization(s).
  • Acceptable Highland attire is required for all competitors.
  • No medals shall be worn during competition.
  • Unauthorized communication with judges will be grounds for disqualification.
  • Protests must be in writing, properly signed, accompanied by a $5 fee and submitted to the appropriate committee no later than one-half hour after result posting.
  • Competitors must be in the athletic area prior to their assigned times, in accordance with sanctioning rules for their event.  Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the event and forfeiture of the entry fee.
  • Prior to July 22, 2018, entry fees will be refunded in full. Withdrawals MUST be received in writing prior to that date.        
  • Entries received after that date will be processed and held for pick-up at the Athletic Registration tent.  Field entries are allowed in some competitions if space allows.
  • The St. Andrew Society of Colorado is not responsible for lost or stolen articles, damaged equipment, or personal injury  to participants.
  • The welfare of a competitor's children is the responsibility of the competitor. It is expressly understood that competitors will exercise control and restraint over their children while they are on the Games field.

Special Awards:

• "Hank Bradshaw" Memorial Caber Award: one award to the Men's Amateur Caber winner and one to the Women's Amateur Caber winner. (Hank Bradshaw, 1913 – 1977, known as "Mr. Caber" introduced Scottish athletics to the region and was very instrumental in starting this Festival. Hank was still competing and coaching into his 60s. To this day his family carries on the tradition around the country.)

• Prizes: Trophy to overall winners (1st 2nd & 3rd) and medals to lst, 2nd and 3rd places in each event C class only

Waiver: In consideration of the acceptance of this entry, I agree to the following: (1) I am not an agent, employee, or representative of the Games; (2) I have read and will abide by the rules of the Games; (3) I will be responsible for injuries to me which result from my conduct; (4) I will reimburse the Games for any legal obligations or expenses which result from my conduct; (5) the term GAMES includes the St. Andrew Society of Colorado or its Games Committee; City of Edgewater; its agents, representatives, lessors, sponsors, and Rocky Mountain Scottish Athletes.
