GENERAL COMPETITION RULES: This competition will be conducted under the rules of the SOBHD and FUSTA.  

1. No phone or fax entries will be accepted.

2. All dancers must have a valid 2018 FUSTA, ScotDance or SOBHD registration card. No entry will be accepted without a current registration number. All dancers must present their registration card the day of the competition in order to compete.

3. Entry form must be received by July 21, 2018. Field entries will be accepted, as space permits, but competitor must pay additional $10 late fee.

4. Age groups will be determined by the number of entries received. Ages will be calculated as age on the day of competition.

5. The decisions of the adjudicator are final. Any attempt to talk to the judge during the competition will disqualify that dancer.

6. Medals or ribbons will be awarded to four places, or less if determined by the judge. Cash award in lieu of medals will be awarded to oldest Premier age group in the following amounts: $40(1st), $35(2nd), $30(3rd), and $25(4th). There will be no trophies awarded at the Primary level. Class trophies will be based on all dances in that session. 

7. Highland dress will be worn in accordance with SOBHD rules. Dancers must be in full costume to receive awards.

8. Dancers not in the marshalling area when their class is called to dance will forfeit that dance.

9. Petitions should be filed to the dance chairman within 7 days of the event. The petition should be in writing and be accompanied by a $25 fee that will be refunded if the petition is warranted. An objection to a person’s eligibility to compete in any competition must be made in writing and shall not be considered unless the complainant gives his/her full name and address accompanied by a deposit, the amount to be set by the SOBHD, currently $25. The deposit shall be returned should the objection be sustained. Such objection must be lodged with the Organizer of the event concerned, if possible before the event and not later than seven days after the date of the event.

10. FUSTA SW receives $5 from every dancer entry, $4 of which will go to support the USIR 2020 when it will be held in Denver, Colorado.

  • Primary 2 dances ($15)
  • Primary 3 or more dances ($20)
  • Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, Premier ($35)

Registration begins at 12:30pm, Dancing begins at 1:00pm. All groups will dance at the same time starting with Primary dancers. 

  • Primary – 16 Pas de Basques, Pas de Basques & Highcuts, Fling (4-step), Sword (2&1)
  • Beginner – Fling (4-step), Sword (2&1), Seann Truibhas (3&1), Strathspey & Highland Reel,  Lilt (4-step)
  • Novice – Fling (4-step), Sword (2&1), Seann Truibhas (3&1), Strathspey & Highland Reel, Flora (4-step)
  • Intermediate – Fling (4-step), Sword (2&1), Seann Truibhas (3&1), Barracks (4-step), Hornpipe (4-step)
  • Premier:  Fling (4-step), Sword (2&1), Seann Truibhas (3&1), Flora (4-step), Earl (4-step)

ADDITIONAL GATE PASSES
A full weekend gate pass is included in dancer registration (for the dancer only). Additional gate passes may be purchased separately in advance at www.scottishgames.org/tickets or at the gate. ($10 Adult / $5 Youth (12-17), Senior (65+), Active Military)

Waiver: In consideration of the acceptance of this entry, I agree to the following; 1) I am not an agent, employee or representative of the Games; 2) I have read and will abide by the rules of the Games;  3) I will be responsible for injuries to me which result from my conduct; 4) I will reimburse the Games for any legal obligations or expenses that result from my conduct; 5)  the term GAMES includes the St. Andrew Society of Colorado or its Games Committee; City of Edgewater; its agents, representatives, lessors, and sponsors.
