Where is Horner?

Horner is a small village of thatched cottages and a tea room surrounded by ancient woodland with the Horner Water bubbling through.

For Satnavs; use the postcode TA24 8HY and look out for signs when you leave the A39 just before Porlock.

What’s the campsite like?

We’re camping in a field just off a little county road. You can drive into the field (it’s very flat and dry) and camp up by your car to save you carrying all your gear. We’ll have the entire field just for our own use for that weekend so there is lots of outdoor space for football, cricket or just running around and enjoying it!

What’s happening?

You can come for either one or two nights, arriving on the Friday night or the Saturday night (it’s the same price).  We will be running activities on the Saturday evening leaving you free Friday night and Saturday and Sunday day time to enjoy the outdoor space and to explore the local area.   Here’s a rough plan;

What should I do on Saturday?

There is a lot to do on Exmoor.  These websites should give you some ideas, whether it’s exploring medieval Dunster, enjoying a riverside picnic at Tarr Steps or walking part of the South West coast path.

What should I bring?

  • All your camping gear (tents, camping mats, sleeping bags etc).
  • Suitable outdoor clothes and footwear (for bright sun as well as rain!).
  • Food and a camping stove.
  • Don’t forget insect repellant and a torch!!

What is provided?

  • Toilet facilities.
  • A large communal campfire for cooking/warmth with a parachute shelter.
  • Drinking water.
  • Hot water (most of the time – i.e. when the fire’s going!).
  • Help to put up your tent.

Are there any rules?

This will be the second year running the event and so far there have been no problems. Common sense/basic camping etiquette will apply;
