Native grasses provide structure, texture, and interest to landscapes and gardens, as well as food and habitat for native wildlife. We often overlook the importance grasses play in natural communities. This workshop aims at increasing your awareness of grasses that bloom and seed in the fall, how to indentify them, and how to apply this knowledge in your gardening and restoration activities.
This workshop is part classroom and part field work, starting out with class at the Sixth Cavalry Museum and moving to the Chickamauga National Military Park to apply classroom instruction to identify examples of warm season native grasses that are indigenous to this area. Some walking will be necessary but not physically demanding.
Instructor: Walter Bland, Rock Spring Restoration Nursery.
