Reader-Writer Workshop Series
Grades 3-5
This workshop series will provide educators with the necessary tools to implement Lucy Calkins Readers and Writers Units of Study. Each workshop session is designed to support a manageable structure to successfully and strategically rollout a workshop classroom.
Session 1:
- Introduction to the Units of Study: materials & structures
- Mini-lesson format
- Exploring the first unit of study
- Resources
Session 2:
- Conferring structure
- Assessment
- Data tracking
- Goal-setting
- Anchor Charts
Session 3:
- Small groups/Strategy groups
- Learning progressions
- Readers/Writers Notebook
Audience (specific to each grade level): Grade level teachers, reading specialists/reading teachers, principals, and coaches
Please bring Reading or Writing Units of Study and a fully-charged electronic device to each session.
Dinner will be included with each session.
