“Social Media: HIPAA and Other Threats Facing Physicians”

Program Description:

This program is designed to familiarize doctors with the numerous challenges and risks associated with utilizing Social Media. We will discuss the advantages of using this medium. We will also discuss the inherent dangers associated with using Social Media, including the risk of HIPAA violations, etc. There will be ample time for discussion, questions and application of these concepts to the real world.

 

“How Performance Improvement Initiatives Benefit Physicians and Their Patients”

During this lecture, you will learn to heighten the awareness of the benefits of performance improvement to residents’ medical knowledge and skills. Additionally, you will enhance appreciation of practical steps to implmention of performance improvement within a residency training program. Following this program, you will be able to share the PI success and challenges in a community health center.

“Lifestyle Medicine 101-Boot Camp Basics for Busy Physicians”

Program Description:

This workshop will review the basics of lifestyle medicine, including healthy eating, movement and stress management, and offer tips on how a busy physician can incorporate self care into his or her day. We will look at the impact of physician self care on the individual, the patient and the healthcare system and through a personal writing exercise, devise an individualized plan for each participant to improve how they feel and function.

 

 

“Medical Marijuana-Fact vs. Fiction”

Medical cannabis is legal in New York State. This presentation will review  the endocannabinoid system, how medical marijuana fits in the discussion of medical ethics and current prescribing in New York.

“Torque Unwinding: OMM Reversing the Vectors of Dysfunction”

Program Description:
Torque Unwinding is an osteopathic manipulative technique developed by Elaine Wallace, DO, MS. It is based on the principles of physics regarding the application and distribution of forces during traumas that cause dysfunction in the solid, colloidal and liquid elements of the body. As such, Torque Unwinding is a rapid approach to diagnosis and treatment based on the appreciation of the effect of the trauma on the structures as well as adding counter-forces to reverse the effects

Q: What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
A: On-site parking will be available on the premises.  You can also carpool with your
co-residents/co-faculty. 

Q. If I am driving, where can I park?
A. Yes, there will be ample parking inside the LaGuardia Plaza garage, and some parking inside the Hampton Inn garage. Side parking may also be available, depending on the time of your arrival.

Q.) Which entrance (s) should I use?
A.) You can either enter through the side of the LaGuardia Plaza-directly adjacent to the parking garage. Or, you can enter through the main lobby area. 

  Alternative transportation options: 
1.) Bus station: M60 Express Bus-approximately 0.1 miles away
2.)  Subway station: #7 subway-approximately 3 miles away
3.) Train station: #7 train-approximately 3 miles away
4.) LaGuardia Airport-approximately 0.3 miles away

Q. Will Kosher options be available?
A. Yes, but you will need to send your request to Aberg@nyit.edu by no later than Wednesday, May 30th 

 Q. Will AOA CME credit be provided to Faculty (D.O.)?  
A. AOA CME credit is anticipated to be available.
