Suffering, Non-Responders, Cases & Techniques using the Eight Extraordinary Vessels

Did you know that the Channels of Acupuncture and Eight Extraordinary Vessels can regulate psycho-emotional states? Interested in learning more?

Join us October 26 to 28, 2018 and explore TCM psycho-emotional aspects of Non-responding patients, Eight Extraordinary Vessel cases and techniques, and Clinical observation with Dr. Yvonne Farrell!

In this 2.5 day seminar, dive deep into the nature and pathology of the channels of acupuncture like never before, and learn the intimate details of how the Eight Extraordinary channels of acupuncture treats suffering and non-responders, learn from case studies and techniques, and observe Dr. Farrell in clinical practice.

Day 1: Suffering and Non-responders

We will explore what it means to treat patients who have been labeled non-responders. What are the characteristics of patients who have difficulty changing? The first part of the class will be about treating these patients from a post-natal perspective through the primary channels, recognizing the impact of self-preservation, the creation of latency, coping mechanisms and the importance of lifestyle and digestion.  In the second part of the class, we will focus on the impact of trauma, deeply held beliefs and constitutional predispositions and how those things may impede healing. We will explore the efficacy of the 8 Extras in the treatment of these deeper issues.

  • Recognize the basic characteristics of non-responders and create a basic treatment.

  • Assess the difference between pre-natal and post-natal conditions in order to decide between a primary channel treatment and an 8 extra treatment.

Day 2: Cases & Techniques of the Eight Extraordinary Vessels

We will discuss complex, difficult or challenging cases. We will explore when to use an 8 extra treatment, how to achieve more clarity when determining which vessel(s) to use and how to create an 8 extra treatment.  We will practice pulse taking and postural assessments it relates to the 8 extras. Needle technique for the 8 extras will be discussed, demonstrated and practiced. Point location for the master points will be reviewed and practiced.

  • Identify 8 basic pulses indicating 8 extra pathology.

  • Adapt point location and technique to create an effective 8 extra treatment.

  • Deepen your knowledge on how to create a treatment plan for difficult cases.

Day 3: Clinical Observation with Dr. Farrell

In this morning, half-day seminar, Dr. Farrell will diagnose and treat patients while being observed by students. Discussions will take place about the differences between treating a patient with the 8 extras and other approaches. Students will observe an approach to diagnosis and witness the creation of a therapeutic relationship. They will have an opportunity to ask questions about point selection, technique and potential outcomes and prognosis.

  • Identify 8 basic pulses indicating 8 extra pathology.

  • Adapt point location and technique to create an effective 8 extra treatment.

  • Deepen your knowledge on how to create a treatment plan for difficult cases.
