Target Audience
This foundational course is designed for public health staff who have recently been given the responsibility for conducting tuberculosis contact investigations.
Conference Goal
The goal of this course is to provide foundational information and education about contact investigation as a tuberculosis elimination strategy. The course will emphasize the importance of contact investigation, guidelines for conducting a contact investigation, and identification and evaluation of contacts.
Conference Objectives
At the completion of this course, participants will be able to: describe the current CDC contact investigation guidelines, conduct an effective TB interview, initiate and prioritize contact investigations and contacts within an investigation, discuss the proper course for handling an investigation, identify the skills necessary to interview contacts, discuss the management of TB infection patients.
Format
The format for this course will be lecturestyle presentations, with case studies, skill building exercises, and facilitator lead discussions . There will be ample time for questions and answers.
