Magic Carpet: Reenie Charriere at the PlayHouse

Make art with us on the PlayHouse porch!

Reenie Charriere, a San Francisco-based artists, will spend two weeks creating a temporary, suspended sculpture. This art installation will hang from the ceiling of the PlayHouse's wrap-around porch. It will be made primarily of plastic bags. Once it is completed, the wind will gently move the suspended, lightweight piece, which will have the appearance of a flying carpet or canopy.

During the 2-week installation process we welcome groups of up to 10 people, children and adults, to sign up for a two-hour shift, helping Reenie complete this piece. This is a great way to contribute to a work of art, support the PlayHouse, and enjoy some great team building!

Please note, these groups will work with Reenie free of charge, but museum admission is not included.

How to sign up:

1. Register your group. Please share as much information as possible, including a business or group name if applicable, and the names of group members if you know them.

2. Select first and second-choice dates and times for your group to spend at the PlayHouse, working with Reenie. Please note, these times MUST BE WHEN THE PLAYHOUSE IS OPEN:

MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY 9am - 4pm

SUNDAY noon - 5pm

(Tuesdays the PlayHouse is open for members only, and Reenie will not be working on these days.)

If none of those times work for you, please use the Comments section to request a special time.

3. You will receive an email confirming your scheduled date and time.

4. If anything changes prior to your scheduled date and time, please let us know by email!

Thank you!

A concurrent exhibit of Reenie's work will also be on view at the Peoria Art Guild downtown.

This exhibit has been made possible by a grant from The Arts Mean Business Fund and the Community Impact Fund of the Community Foundation of Central Illinois. It is also supported by Martin Once Source.
