Refugees in America

Maybe your parents or grandparents came from another country...what's it like to be a refugee in America today?

To find out, join us for a discussion of historical and current day perspectives on the refugee experience in America.

Sharing their experiences with us will be Agozino Emmanuel, who was a journalist in his home country of Nigeria; and Youssef Abbara, who was an engineer in Syria. Both have been here less than 2 years.

Directing the discussion will be Cathryn Miller-Wilson, the
PA director of HIAS , an organization
that for more than 130 years has been helping refugees rebuild their lives in safety and dignity.

Co-Sponsored by Friends in the City and the Philadelphia City Institute Library
