AASL 2017 Standards Workshop - Sivia Center (07/25/18)

Are you curious about the new American Association of School Librarians Standards and how to incorporate them into your school library program?  Join us as we understand the origin of the AASL Standards, analyze them and their component parts, and make connections between the new Standards and your daily practice.

The workshop will have large group and small table group work so each participant can leave ready to implement the student based AASL Standards and how it can interface with the State of Florida ExC3EL rubric for library program guidelines

Trainer: Lou Greco

Lou began his career in St. Johns County in January 1995 as the director for media services and currently is the school librarian at Gamble Rodgers Middle School. Prior to 1995, he taught elementary students for 16 years at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. Lou earned his undergraduate degree in deaf and elementary education from Flagler College and holds a master’s degree in educational media from the University of Central Florida.

Lou currently serves as FAME's chair of the Committee on Finance after having served as FAME President. He has also served as president of the Florida Association of District Instructional Materials Administrators and the Florida Association of Supervisors of Media.  He has been a board member at large for the American Association of School Libraries (AASL) and has served as director for the AASL, Region V, which includes Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.

Cost: NEFLIN classes are free of charge for Florida library staff.  Registration is required for all classes and NEFLIN members get priority.
