Summer Classes 2018

Smartphone & Tablet (Android) 
Mondays 1:00 - 3:00; June 11, 18, 25 & July 2;   Cost $40.00       

Class Description:  During this 4-week Android Smart Phone & Tablet class you will learn the basic features of your Smartphone & Tablet with emphasis on communicating with family & friends using your Android devices. We will cover email, texting, Skype, taking & sharing photos and videos. The class will cover the features of the built-in apps, downloading and updating apps from the app store, surfing the net, backing up your data & wireless operations. Note:  This class is not for iPhone or iPads.

Prerequisite:  Desire to learn how to use your Android Smart Phone & Tablet

What to Bring to Class:  The classroom has wireless Internet connection and students are required to bring in their Android devices for hands-on instruction.

iPad & iPhone

 Monday 9:30 – 11:30 AM; July 9, 16, 23, 30  Cost: $40

During this 4-week iPad & iPhone class you will learn the basic features of the iPad & iPhone with emphasis on communicating with family & friends using your Apple devices. We will cover email, texting, Facetime, Skype, and taking & sharing photos and videos.  The class will cover the features of the built-in apps, downloading and updating apps from the apps store, surfing the net, backing up your data to iCloud, and wireless operations.

Prerequisite:  Desire to learn how to use your iPhone and/or iPad

What to Bring to Class:  The classroom has wireless Internet connection and students are required to bring their iPhone or iPad for hands-on instruction.  Must bring you APPLE ID AND APPLE PASSWORD

Using Windows 10

Mondays 9:30 – 11:30 AM; June 11, 18 & 25 (Three 2-hour sessions) Cost: $30

This class will help you in your everyday computer use. In the class sessions, we'll talk about what's new and useful, and review the basics so you’ll become more comfortable with the program. We will then cover going online – for most of the information and activities we all depend on each day. There will be special emphasis on safe browsing, which includes protecting against viruses and email scams. Additionally, we’ll have time for your questions, general discussion, and frequent hands-on practice.

Prerequisite: Windows 10 on your laptop or desktop computer.

What to Bring to Class:  Your laptop with Windows 10.  If you do not have a laptop the use of a loaner laptop can be made available.  The classroom has wireless Internet connection.  If you use a mouse bring your mouse pad.

Digital Photography

Thursday 1:00 – 3:00 PM; June 21 & 28 (Two 2-hour sessions) Cost: $20

This class will provide an overview of how a digital camera works. What all the buttons on your camera do and why they can help you improve your photography. An understanding of how to photograph landscapes, action photos, photos of your grandkids, wildlife and your pets, depth of field and how it can improve your composition. Come to this class and learn how to have fun with your camera. 

Prerequisite: Desire to learn how to use your digital camera. 

What to Bring to Class: Camera, charged battery and camera manual.

Solving Spreadsheet Problems 

Date & Time: Thursday 1:00 – 3:00 PM; June 7 & 14 (Two 2-hour sessions). Cost: $20

Class Description: The class is designed to help you solve your problems using spreadsheets.  While the class will focus on desktop Excel the knowledge learned will also be applicable to LibreOffice Calc, Excel for iPad and Google Sheets.  The instructor will contact each student before the class to ascertain the issues the student may want to discuss during the class.

What to Bring to Class:  If you have a laptop with spreadsheet software bring it.  If you use a mouse bring your mouse pad. 

Prerequisite:  Basic working knowledge of your computer and/or devices to be used.
