The Art of LMN Writing

Please join Monroe Learning Network in conjunction with Sunrise Medical Clinical Rehab Manager, Kim Davis for a half day CEU Course dedicated to educating clinicians on the art of writing Letters of Medical Necessity.

Course description:

This 3 hour course will step the clinician through the building blocks of how to write a Letter of Medical Necessity. Particular focus will be placed on Medicare coverage policy, while also shedding light on the general differences for Medicaid guidelines. Case studies will be utilized to convey key components for providing medical justification for power mobility devices, manual wheelchairs and seating. Special emphasis will be placed on group 2 versus group 3 power wheelchairs, tilt-in-space and ultra-lightweight manual wheelchairs and skin protection cushions.

Learning Objectives:

1. Identify 2 key differences in the role of Letter of Medical Necessity as compared to physician's medical records with regard to medical justification for seating and wheeled mobility equipment.

2. Define the primary difference between Medicare and Medicaid policy for wheelchairs with regard to community mobility.

3. Discuss at least 2 key criteria for Medicare coverage for a skin protection cushion.

4. List the primary differences in Medicare coverage for a group 2 versus a group 3 power wheelchair.

5. Articulate at least 2 key differences between "tie down brackets" and transit systems.
