 “How does playing with my child causes him to stop having meltdowns?”  “ I want you to talk to my child, not just play with him.”  Providing a clear explanation about what play therapy is, and its function, is essential in order to gain cooperation and trust.  Even with precise explanations and examples, there are times when parents and caregivers are not convinced that play therapy is for their child.  By exploring myths and misconceptions about play therapy, and focusing on the benefits, beginning therapists will have a much better understanding of how to communicate this modality to parents and caregivers.  Additionally, the beginning therapist will have an opportunity to clarify how play therapy works to bring about healing.

Live Webinar Interaction:

     This course is presented lecture-style where participants will be able to follow along with a Power Point presentation that is sent out to registrants prior to the live webinar as well as being displayed on-screen during the webinar.  The live webinar will follow the timeline provided above.  Participants will be required to be active throughout the webinar as attendance is recorded through Zoom.  Participants will be given the opportunity throughout the live webinar, as well as during the Q&A portion, to ask questions through voice or text on the Zoom website.

     After completion of the live webinar, participants who have provided payment and have submitted a course evaluation will receive a certificate of completion via email.  CBPS will send an electronic copy of the certificate to the email supplied during registration, and participants can expect to receive it within 30 days of the live webinar.
