Understanding HR2 The 2018 Farm Bill
HR2, the Farm Bill, is receiving national attention because of its proposed changes to federally-supported nutritional programs, especially SNAP. Through eligibility changes and direct cuts, this legislation seeks to whack over $200 billion from SNAP funding over the next 10 years. HR2 would take millions off of SNAP assistance across the country, placing greater demand on our already strained ability to meet client needs.
Join your peers and Tim White, Advocacy Manager- MOF for an in-depth dive into HR2 to explore the proposed changes and their potential impact on our operations as well as those we serve; the philosophy driving these proposals; and, what is likely to be the outcome.
AT THE END OF THIS SESSION, YOU WILL WALK AWAY WITH:
- An understanding of the Farm Bill and how it seeks to drastically alter hunger relief efforts.
- The varying philosophies that drive legislative initiatives such as HR2 and how we can respond to different constituencies.
- How to effectively advocate on behalf of the work you do and those you serve – making your voice heard clearly.
- Registration is open to Partner Agencies in good standing, their staff and volunteers.
- Space for this session is limited to 75ppl.
- Registration will close Friday, June 15, 2018.
- If you have questions or need help with registration contact Ann L. Miller-Tobin amillertobin@midohiofoodbank.org or call 614.317.9426
