Fostering Pathways to Success: A Conference for Transition Age Emancipated Foster Youth and Supporters

Conference Registration: 8 am to 9 am
Conference Program begins at 9 am

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and Ohio Reach network invite you to join us on Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Columbus Convention Center (Short North Ballroom), 400 North High Street, Columbus Ohio 43215. This year's theme is, "Learn to Reach for the Stars". Youth in foster care between the ages of 14-18 and young adults formerly in foster care ages 19-21 are encouraged to attend, along with Independent Living coordinators, ongoing case managers, agency administrators, workforce professionals and others working with foster youth. Invitees also include: Ohio Reach college campus liaisons, higher education professionals, high school guidance counselors, and others committed to the success of foster youth in high school, higher education, employment and self-sufficiency. The conference will offer interactive and engaging workshops focusing on: Leadership, Empowerment, Advocacy, Research, and Networking. These are the L.E.A.R.N. foundational components of Ohio Reach. Since the conference will be a very interactive day, youth will be divided into teams, along with their caseworkers to rotate through the workshops an activity stations with Super Games for team building (Boot Camp Obstacle Course, Klime Wallz-rock climbing, Portable Zipline 300, and Light Speed Laser Cones). Super Games stations will be set-up in Exhibit Hall C.

This year’s luncheon keynote speaker is, the "Amazing" Tei Street. Tei Street is an author, national motivational speaker, trainer, and educational consultant. Tei is the founder and sole proprietor of Street Talk. Her philosophy for the future is: "I'm the "Amazing " Tei Street, but I can assure you there is nothing "amazing" in me that is not also in each and every one of you. I challenge you all to walk in your "amazing".
