Target Audience
This conference is designed for community providers who will be screening and treating patients for tuberculosis infection in the community.
Conference Goal
The goal of this training is to build capacity with community providers by providing guidelines for screening and treating persons for TB infection.
Conference Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to describe current epidemiology of TB, list groups of people who are more likely to be exposed to or infected with M. tuberculosis, list risk factors for progression to TB disease if infected with M. tuberculosis, describe tools used in testing for TB infection, discuss USPSTF recommendations, identify gaps in access to care that impact TB prevention, discuss social and legal impediments to care, discuss the role stigma plays in accessing health care, list considerations in determining treatment candidates, identify and implement treatment regimens used to treat TB infection, discuss opportunities and benefits to collaborating with the health department.
Format
The format for this course will be lecturestyle presentations, with case studies. There will be ample time for questions and answers.
