Library of Congress Subject Headings:

A Primer (07/12/18)

How are subject headings assigned? What relationships exist between subject headings and the LC call number? How do you find a subject heading? How do you request a new subject heading? Can any heading be subdivided? In this session, we will explore Library of Congress Subject Headings including resources for verifying headings.

Audience: All technical services staff, special collections staff, digital libraries/institutional repository staff, all interested in subject headings.

Resources and exercises for post-class work will be provided.

Virtual Trainer: Robin Fay

Robin Fay is a Metadata and Technology Librarian with over 15 years of experience. She has worked with ARL libraries, the Library of Congress, the Digital Public Library of America, among others.

This is an online class. Access information will be emailed one week ahead.

Cost: NEFLIN classes are free of charge for Florida library staff. Registration is required for all classes and NEFLIN members get priority.
