binary-beams-abstract.jpg

Every wonder if you could automate more of your data cleanup? Wonder where to even get started? In this session, we will start with good data management practices and work through data prepartion and cleanup.

Along the way, we will explore three tools: MARCEdit, OpenRefine, and Exel. Although Excel and OpenRefine can be used for any data cleanup project, the focus on this session will be bibliographic data. Resources and exercises for post-class work will be provided.

Audience: Catalogers, Technical Services, Systems, as well as any library staff interested in data management

Virtual Trainer: Robin Fay

Robin Fay is a Metadata and Technology Librarian with over 15 years of experience. She has worked with ARL libraries, the Library of Congress, the Digital Public Library of America, among others.

This is an online class. Access information will be emailed one week ahead.

Cost: NEFLIN classes are free of charge for Florida library staff. Registration is required for all classes and NEFLIN members get priority.
