Whimsical Illustrations

with James Luke Burke

Saturday, August 11th

3:30pm to 6:30 pm

$90

I love drawing. I have loved it since I could hold a crayon and make a mark on paper. Illustrating the fantastical thoughts in your imagination is a kind of communication unlike any other, but let's face it, sometimes those thoughts can be difficult to convey. Luckily, drawing is a skill and it can be learnt!

In this Whimsical Illustration workshop, we're going to break down our ideas and techniques into a manageable format, using templates and simple tricks to illustrate more confidently. We will have a look into the whimsicality of my own illustrative work and apply those ideas to your own personal expressions of whimsy. We will start with the very basics of a "Swatchdoll" and move forward from there – mapping out faces, exploring styles, finding personal trademarks and a focus on details. More than drawing whimsical pieces, this workshop is about illustrating with confidence, and I can't wait to share in the joy of that with you.

In this workshop you will be provided with a jlbCREATIVE "CLASS COMPANION - whimsical illustration" booklet for reference. These are a workshop exclusive that detail templates we might use in class, pieces for you to use, as well as information you might want to refer back to once the workshop is complete and you're creating back at home.
