MNCASA Webinar: Victims/Survivors with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities: Important Factors to Consider

The Arc Minnesota – Greater Twin Cities Region and the Sexual Violence Center will present a webinar that focuses on Victims/Survivors with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and important factors to consider. This webinar will help participants learn:

  • Why people with I/DD experience sexual violence at a higher rate
  • The barriers and challenges people with I/DD face to accessing services.
  • The basics of People First Language
  • Best practices to support people with I/DD
  • Lessons learned and tools created from the collaboration efforts that support people with I/DD

The Arc Minnesota – Greater Twin Cities and the Sexual Violence Center have had a long standing relationship committed to supporting victims/survivors with I/DD. In 2013, The Arc Minnesota – Greater Twin Cities Region was awarded a grant from the Office on Violence Against Women to collaborate with The Sexual Violence Center.  The grant funded our collaborative work within Hennepin County focused on improving how both agencies support victims/survivors with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our collaboration works together to provide services that respect and empower victims/survivors. We help victims get the skills and resources they need to heal.
