Smocked Pillow Class 

Thank you for registering for the Smocked Pillow Class. Here is the list of supplies you will need to complete this project. Please remember to come early to purchase any supplies you might need and to set up your work area so that you will be ready to start promptly at 10:30 AM

•    1 yard of fabric for a 14” pillow– select either a solid or something that you can see a grid on such as a check or even a stripe. This will make the front and back of the pillow.  If you wish to use different fabrics for the front and back, get 1/2 yard of each.  If you want to make a bigger pillow you will need approximately 3 times the width of the pillow.  For instance, an 18” pillow would need a piece of fabric 22” x 54”.  This is an approximation and would need to be adjusted depending on the size of your smocking squares.  To test this I used gingham as it is already gridded.
•    Measuring tape or ruler
•    Fabric pencil or pen
•    Scissors
•    Smocking template, optional
•    Hand sewing needle
•    Strong Thread, hand quilting thread, floss or pearl cotton work well just be sure you have the right size needle for your choice.  This thread will show so either a good contrast or match to your fabric is best.
•    Beads, optional
•    Sewing machine, optional. Only used for finishing the pillow cover which can be done at home using your favorite method.
