Enhancing Communication for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Course Description:
This workshop is designed for elementary educators and speech pathologists working with students with autism and related disabilities.  Best practice for enhancing communication and serving students in the school setting will be discussed. 

Learning Objectives:
As a result of this workshop the participant will

  • learn functional communication strategies and tips for intervention with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
  • be able to identify goals and methods for data collection in the classroom.
  • be able to apply service delivery options when working with children with ASD.
  • have knowledge of evidence based practices regarding methods for intervention.
  • utilize a team approach for working with learners on the autism spectrum.
