PMPEI Community Planning Course - Fall 2018 

Tri-County Regional Planning Commission will offer a Community Planning course in October in partnership with the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Education Institute (PMPEI).

The course will take place 6 to 9:30 p.m. on three consecutive Tuesdays, October 9, 16 & 23, at the Swatara Township Building, 599 Eisenhower Blvd., Harrisburg, PA 17111. Cost to attend is $35.

The course teaches planning commissioners, local officials and others how to carry out their responsibilities under the PA Municipalities Planning Code. Participants learn where planning fits in the framework of local government, how planning commissioners relate to the governing body, zoning hearing board and zoning officer.

Topics include basic knowledge of the MPC, comprehensive planning, planimplementation (including zoning, subdivision and land development regulations), the official map, and how effective planning commissions work together.

Multi-municipal planning and implementing planning agreements is emphasized. The course is designed for new and experienced planners and officials.

Continuing education credits are available for realtors, engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, UCC officials and lawyers who attend the course.nning and implementing planning agreements is emphasized. The course is designed for new and experienced planners and officials.
