 Session 1 - Different attack techniques of Email Phishing including the latest one

 

Abstract: 
This presentation will look at different versions of phishing, and why the latest version, involving IDNs, is so difficult to detect by users, and nearly impossible to catch / stop in near real-time
   
Speaker: Tim Mather, Chief Security Strategist at PatternEx 

 

     

Tim Mather is Chief Security Strategist at PatternEx, a security start-up working on bringing artificial intelligence to information security.  He is a long-time information security practitioner, having also served in senior security roles previously at Cadence Design Systems, Splunk and Symantec as CISO; at RSA Security at Chief Security Strategist; and, as head of information security at VeriSign and Apple.

He has co-authored two books on information security: “Cloud Security and Privacy: An Enterprise Perspective on Risks and Compliance” (O'Reilly) and “The Executive Guide to Information Security: Threats, Challenges, and Solutions” (Addison-Wesley). Tim is a CISSP, CISA, and CISM.  He holds Master’s Degrees in Information Assurance from Brandeis University, National Security Studies from Georgetown University, and International Policy Studies from Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.  He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Economics from the University of California at Berkeley.  Tim has extensive public speaking experience at major information security conferences.

 

Session 2 - Security and Privacy by Design

Abstract: 

 Security and Privacy by design : This session will discussion the roadblocks and current status of building privacy into security design. Also it will discuss the roadways to overcome the issues.

Speaker: Yogita Parulekar, Senior Director Security Operations at ThreatMetrix Inc

  

Yogita Parulekar has more than two decades of experience in the audit and security risk field. She is currently leading the security and privacy risk management, compliance and audit programs at ThreatMetrix, a SaaS company focused on fraud risk management. Prior to that she built her own consulting firm after working in a large corporate and a big Four consulting firm. She built the first IT Audit group and the Information Security (ISM) program at Oracle. Before that as a Manager at EY she led many audit and advisory projects in a variety of different areas and industries. Her goal has been to build security and privacy by design practices at the company she works for or advises in a way that makes security and privacy an enabler of business and not an afterthought. She is a CISA, CISM, CA and CPA. 

 

Session 3 - CA Privacy Protection Act and its impact

Abstract:

Overview of California Privacy Act 2018; How it relates to existing privacy laws including the latest one GDPR.
