Public speaking strikes fear into the hearts of many – maybe it’s happened to you. You’ve been asked to speak in public about your organization and you have no clue where to begin. Even if you could find a clue, you can’t imagine actually putting yourself into such an intimidating position!

Linda Bruno has been where you are…the first time she was asked to speak in public (working as a volunteer with an organization), someone asked her how she felt about her assignment. In Linda’s words, “I think I’m going to be sick!”

If you’ve ever felt that way, you’ll want to attend Linda’s face-to-face workshop, Public Speaking ~ Let’s Talk! Since that fateful first speaking assignment, Linda has gone on to not only speak in public, but has received her CTM designation with Toastmasters, develops and conducts her own training workshops, and presents keynote speeches to various groups.

In this fun-filled face-to-face workshop, you’ll not only learn the nuts and bolts of public speaking, you’ll have time to develop a short presentation that you will give to the class. The class (and Linda) will then provide feedback on what went well and what might be improved. In the process, you will already be one step closer to feeling confident about your public speaking skills!

It only makes sense that becoming better at public speaking requires practice. And it also makes sense that practicing among a group of like-minded people is much more helpful than winging it in front of a group of perfect strangers – so come prepared to practice! This workshop will improve your comfort level with public speaking and will also give you some tips on how to use your newfound skills for the benefit of your organization. Trainer: Linda Bruno

Linda has been developing and conducting training workshops for libraries and other organizations for more than fifteen years. She offers workshops on topics ranging from Leadership Skills to Emotional Intelligence – and lots of areas in between!

Linda received her MBA from the University of Florida and has years of experience in hands-on management positions. She develops her workshops based on solid research and – more importantly – real-life application. Linda is also certified with DDI and Achieve Global.

Cost: NEFLIN classes are free of charge for Florida library staff.  Registration is required for all classes and NEFLIN members get priority.
