Medication Assisted Treatment is quickly becoming the standard of care for certain substance use disorders across the country. Many persons who are addicted to substances have co-occurring mental health disorders. However, mental health and addiction treatment systems are often separated resulting in persons being treated separately for multiple, but many times, related disorders. This interactive workshop will provide information on the integrated treatment of SUDs and CODs, the effects of CODs on treatment outcomes, the effects of sysmptom severity, and the effects of CODs on progress while in MAT. A discussion of treatment issues and considerations for persons with CODs who participate in MAT programs will be presented.
