Join us for a Saturday morning filled with information, resources and nuggets of knowledge to help you become an effective advocate for your child.

Having a child with a disability can be challenging. Your child's IEP and how to monitor it can be confusing. How to be the best advocate for your child, the importance of communication and how to resolve conflicts are important pieces of this puzzle. This training will provide you with tools to understand the special education process.

Topics include:

  • The different levels of advocacy
  • How to identify your advocacy style and improve your approach
  • The basics of communication and tips for making your communication more effective
  • How to identify the right people to help you resolve an issue
  • Understanding the rules and laws (IDEA, ADA, 504)
  • Overview of the special education process
  • Understanding your child's IEP and tips for improving their IEP
  • Options for resolving disputes when they happen
