Georgia State Board of Optometry Approved Injections Course

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

This 4-Day, 30 Hour education and training event is the only Georgia State Board of Optometry approved coursework for the certification for use of injectables. This course has been developed by and will be presented by Southern College of Optometry. Class size is limited to 76, register early to reserve your spot today as no additional courses are scheduled at this time.

Chapter 430-14 CERTIFICATION FOR USE OF INJECTABLES

RULE 430-14-.01 Certification Requirements

1. A doctor of optometry may be certified by the Board to administer pharmaceutical agents by injection for diagnosis or treatment purposes if one of the following conditions are met: 

(a) The doctor of optometry has successfully completed an injectable training program that has been approved by the Board consisting of a minimum of thirty (30) hours; or, 

(b) The doctor of optometry is enrolled in an injectable training program that has been approved by the Board consisting of a minimum of thirty (30) hours and is under the direct supervision of a physician licensed by the Georgia Composite Medical Board (O.C.G.A. § 43-34) who is board certified in ophthalmology. 

Education Policy/Items of Note:

  • The Georgia State Board of Optometry has approved all 30 hours of this coursework as credit towards relicensure. 

  • Valid name badges will serve as admission to the continuing educations and wet lab and must be worn by attendees at all times. 

  • Sign-In will be required every morning and entrance and exit of coursework will be monitored to meet regulations. 

  • Attendees may only be absent from any class for a maximum of 5 minutes per hour of lecture.

• Each Wet Lab is for a three hour period and attendees are dismissed upon the completion of their Skills Lab Session.

• Each Wet Lab Group will be limited in size.  

• Attendees will choose which wet lab period they would like to attend at the time of registration.  If 1st requested lab period is full at the time of registration, you will be assigned into the next lab period and notified of the change.

*Breaks will be provided throughout the day, however break times are at the discretion of the lecturers.

Registration & Fees:

  • Conference is limited to 76 Maximum Attendees. NO Exceptions & NO Onsite Registration!

  • Registration fees are $2,000 for GOA or AOA Members or $2,500 for NON GOA or AOA Members. To qualify for Member Rate you must be a member in good standing of the Georigia Optometric Association or the American Optometric Association as of August 15, 2018. Membership status will be verified upon registration. 

  • Registration fee cover entrance into lecture hall, all registration and wet lab materials plus meals as listed on the coursework schedule. 

  • ALL FEES MUST BE PAID PRIOR TO ATTENDING THE MEETING. 

  • Cancellation Policy: There will be a $100.00 Administrative Fee for all cancellations. We will gladly issue refunds for cancellations made on or prior to October 1, 2018. No refunds will be issued after October 5, 2018.
