We're pleased to present Melinda Steuer of the Law Offices of Melinda Jane Steuer in Sacramento. Melinda will discuss the legal standards of undue influence and financial elder abuse, red flags to watch out for, and the roles, duties and responsibilities of fiduciaries and other professionals with respect to detecting and preventing undue influence and financial elder abuse, and protecting clients. Melinda will also discuss regulatory standards for financial advisors with respect to financial elder abuse; the circumstances under which financial advisors, fiduciaries, and other professionals can be held personally liable for assisting or engaging in the commission of financial elder abuse.

About the Speaker(s): 

Melinda has been practicing law in the area of investment litigation and
arbitration since 2001. She is Co-Chair of the Fiduciary Duty Committee for  the Public investors Arbitration Bar Association and a volunteer attorney for  the California Association of Nursing Home Reform and the Lucille Packard  Childrens Health Foundation. Melinda has been quoted in multiple publications including Forbes, AARP magazine and Investment News.
