Electrical Fire Forensic Investigations (WY & TX CE approved)
Electrical accident and fire investigations in the insurance industry are complex endeavors that may require experts. The right electrical engineer and/or fire investigator can provide the special knowledge, training, education, or skills needed to complete the investigation and guide the adjuster’s team to the best course of action. As part of the expert’s investigation and communication to the adjuster, technical terms and ideas will come up and need to be understood. This presentation will provide a basic overview of electricity from generation to distribution throughout our electrified world. Failure modes and effects (such as overloads, high-resistance connections, arcing/shorting, arc mapping, and arc flash) of electrical devices and how they relate to fire investigations and personal injuries will be presented. Electrical safety devices and the important role they play in products and the electrical distribution system will be discussed. Finally, a case study or two will be highlighted along with a Q&A session. Presented by: SEA, Ltd..
