Amory's ChiliFest

Come join Amory Main Street for our Annual Chili Cook-off and tasting. Fun activities for the whole family! Come hang with the locals and enjoy the music and food.

Chili Cook-Off Rules

1. Teams must turn in an entry form with a $35 check to Amory Main Street, Inc. to reserve a booth spot by Friday, October 12, 2018.

2. The cook-off site will open at 3:00 p.m. for registration and set-up. The tasting will begin for the public at 5:00 p.m. Teams will serve chili to judges at 4:30 p.m.

3. Teams will be assigned a 10x10 preparation area. Additional space can be provided for a fee.

4. All teams must consist of at least two people.

5. Each team is responsible for all cooking utensils, tables, chairs, cooking ingredients, long extension cords, set-up, and clean up. A tent and some kind of overhead lighting is also required. You may be close to power, but you may need an extension cord- please be prepared either way!

6. If using an open burner, you MUST have a fire extinguisher in your booth!

7. Chili must be prepared prior to competition. All food preparation must be done off-site in a sanitary manner. Please keep chili tightly covered when not serving.

8. Have a sign or poster in the front of your booth with your booth name or business, and we will assign you a number at registration.

9. No canned chili is allowed!

10. Teams are urged to dress up and decorate their tent area. Best decorations and costumes will win a prize!

11. Each contestant will be assigned a contestant number and given a styrofoam cup for their chili. An official of the cook-off will deliver your chili to the judges for a blind taste test.

12. Judges will announce the winner around 6:00 p.m. The winning team will be presented with a trophy and $100 Amory Main Street gift certificate. Second and Third place winners will receive trophies as well. The judges’ decision is final.

13. Each team will provide their chili to the Amory Main Street chili cook-off for consumption at the event. Each team is expected to dispense their chili to the public between 5:00-7:30 p.m. Tasting cups, spoons, and wrist bands will be provided by Amory Main Street.

14. The public will select the People’s Choice Award. The public will be given a ticket to give to their favorite chili team. The team with the most tickets wins! It’s up to you to entice them to try your chili and cast their vote. The more chili you have, the more tasting and votes you will be able to get! People’s Choice Award winner will receive a prize as well.

15. A minimum of 8 gallons of chili is required.

Booths will be setup in the street this year! Please bring sandbags, water weights, or something else to anchor your tent! NO STAKES ALLOWED!!!!!!!
