Filling the Skills Gap One Student at a Time

GPS:45:93 invites you to "Filling the Skills Gap One Student at a Time” workshop on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Eleva-Strum School District’s Cardinal Manufacturing in Strum, WI. Cardinal Manufacturing is a school-based enterprise, a real student-run manufacturing business. This event is a follow-up to our “Innovative Approaches to Career Readiness” event that was held in May in North Branch.

This day will showcase innovative approaches to public/private partnerships aimed towards encouraging manufacturing and other high demand careers for students, educators & industry. This is more than a tour! This is your opportunity to learn about the program and how to create something like it in your own school district.

The one-day workshop will provide you with a guidebook, hands-on opportunities, and first-hand experience with an existing and successful program. You will learn about how Cardinal Manufacturing began and the steps that have taken place since then to grow it to where it is today. You will meet student employees, learn about administrative concerns and management, see the facilities, meet some of the business partners, and feel inspired to create your program. Not only will you learn about this program, but you will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with the administration, service providers, and business partners to help begin drafting a work plan you can put into motion right away.

Cost is $100 per person and includes bussing to/from North Branch, workshop at Cardinal Manufacturing, continental breakfast and lunch.

GPS:45:93 is incurring the cost of bussing and part of the workshop fees to make the event feasible and to encourage your participation. We hope to have representation of at least one person per school in EDR 7E. We also hope business advocates and community leaders participate in this workshop.

Space is limited to 30 participants and we expect the event to fill to capacity early.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Della Ludwig at della.ludwig@state.mn.us or Jordan Zeller at jordan.zeller@ecrdc.org.

To register, please use the link below. Payment of $100 per person can be paid by check. Your confirmation email will have details on where to send payment. Payment is due no later than Oct 1, 2018.
