Dan Issel - Kentucky legend works to return pro basketball to Louisville. 

Dan Issel, former NBA and ABA all-star and All-American at the University of Kentucky, is working to bring professional basketball back to Louisville.

Issel, whose professional career began with the Kentucky Colonels, was named president of the Louisville Basketball Investment and Support Group in February. The Kentucky-based LLC was created in 2016 to explore ways to bring an NBA franchise to Louisville.

More than 20 local investors have contributed startup capital to support the initiative, referred to as “NBA 2 Louisville." The organization’s primary role is to ready Louisville and Kentucky for an NBA expansion franchise or if an existing team expresses interest in relocating.
