2018 Joy in the Journey Retreat: "Are These Extravagant Promises?"

"Are These Extravagant Promises?" is a three-day retreat presented by the Bishop's Commission on Addiction and Recovery. Our retreat leader is John McAndrew, M.A., M.Div.  More information about him can be found at his website www.sensiblespirituality.org.

Alcoholics Anonymous proposes a new way of life filled with extravagant promises that are detailed for us in 'The Big Book", Alcoholics Anonymous. This weekend will be a treasure hunt for people seeking this new 'design for living', looking to find ALL the promises of the Big Book (there are lots more than the 12 you might be familiar with!). How can I enlarge my spiritual life and claim these new treasures? This weekend is designed for people who are seeking deeper engagement with their spiritual lives, partners, spouses, and friends: men, women, couples, singles--all seekers welcome! The retreat is open to all 12 Step fellowships and anyone who's interested in 12 Step spirituality.

Plan to arrive at Camp Hardtner on Friday, October 5, between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. for check-in and room assignments. Program starts at 7:00 p.m. No dinner will be served on Friday, but heavy hors d'oeuvres will be available at 6:00 p.m.  The retreat ends at noon on Sunday, October 7.

PLEASE NOTE:  Another diocesan event will also be taking place at Camp Hardtner on Saturday, October 6. Rest assured, however, that the two events will occur in separate areas of the camp in order to ensure anonymity of Joy in the Journey participants.
