Lewis & Clark Viaduct Project Tour / September YMG Meeting

Join the Kansas City YMG for our September Meeting at The Ship. To kick things off, we will be touring the Lewis and Clark Viaduct (Bridge) Project at 5:30pm in the West Bottoms. Parking location for the tour will be comunicated at a later date. The tour will run for approximately an hour, then we will head to The Ship where your first drink will be on us! Please bring your PPE as this is an active construction site (hard hat, safety vest, steel toed boots, and eye protection). See below for additional details on the project.

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is the owner for this Phase 1 Westbound I-70 bridge reconstruction project. The Westbound I-70 structure will have an overall bridge length of approximately 3000 feet and carries traffic over the Kansas River. The proposed spans consist of a river unit of continuous welded steel plate girder superstructure supported by large piers with aesthetic details and approach unit of a prestressed girder superstructure. There will be a number of components of the bridge to see in different stages of construction to see on the tour. This should be a great opportunity to see both substructure and superstructure elements under construction at the same time.
