Introduction to Mechanical & Electrical Systems 

About the class 

This class is a basic overview of the mechanical and electrical disciplines – HVAC, plumbing, controls, fire protection, chemical treatment and electrical disciples. You’ll learn the factors that influence HVAC system design, including architectural design, cost, reliability, climate, loads, space requirements, codes and standards.

This class includes light breakfast and lunch.

By the end of this class, participants will better understand:

  • Understanding heat transfer
  • Heating and cooling functions
  • The basics of heating systems – air, heating water, and electrical systems
  • The basics for cooling systems – air, chilled water, condenser water, and environment
  • Constant volume and variable – what are the differences?
  • Review of HVAC equipment and functions of the total system
  • Electricity production
  • Primary and secondary Power
  • Electrical equipment and its interface with HVAC systems
