Filial Play Therapy in VA - 2 DAY

Presenter: Mary Ortwein, MS, LMFT

12 Clock Hours/ 1.2 CEs Training

 Description:

In this workshop you will learn how to teach parents to do Child-Centered Play therapy (CCPT) with their children, which is known as Filial Therapy.  Filial Therapy has a very high effectiveness rate for both improving child behavior and resolving parent-child relationship problems.  It typically has three phases: (1) intake and teaching parents how to do the six primary tasks of child-centered play therapy (2) coaching and supporting parents while they do child-centered play sessions with their children (3) guiding parents to generalize child-centered play strategies to everyday parenting.  This interactive workshop will include lecture and skills training, practice for all three phases of Filial Therapy, and discussion of various contexts and issues that arise in doing Filial.  Prerequisite:  basic knowledge of Child-Centered Play Therapy—you can only teach what you already know.
