Developmental Disabilities Administration Nurses Quarterly Meeting and Webinar: Wound Basics Assessment and Management 

Cynthia A. Walker, MSN, APRN-CNS, CWON; Rachel Moseley, MS, BSN, RN, CWON, APHN; and Ann Gaylord, BSN, RN, CWON of the Bayview Inpatient Wound Ostomy Nursing Team, will present a two-part webinar on Wound Basics Assessment & Management. 

Part One: Wound Basics Assessment will be offered Thursday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Part Two: Management will be offered Thursday, Nov. 1, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. You are invited to attend one or both.

The objectives for Part One: Wound Basics Assessment

1. Recognize principles of healthy skin care management. 

2. Identify four or more interventions which reduce the risk of pressure injury based on evidence based skin risk assessments. 

3. Discuss four or more components of a comprehensive skin/wound assessment. 

4. Differentiate three or more interventions and associated wound characteristics that support wound healing. 

5. Distinguish three or more characteristics of various wound etiologies including moisture associated skin injury, pressure injury, and venous, arterial, and neuropathic ulcers.

1. Support wound dressing/treatment selections based on wound product categories associated with three or more patient centered assessment findings. 

2. Appreciate principles of safe negative pressure wound therapy.

4. Identify community resources applicable to the chronic wound care management across care settings.
