November 28th Trainings with Anthony Jordan and Cliff Jones

Please join us for the upcoming trainings on Wednesday, November 28th for Intergenerational Trauma and the Impact on the African-American Psyche with Anthony Jordan, MPA, CADC II, CRM and Closing the Gap Between The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Vision and Reality with Cliff Jones.

All proceeds go towards the Al Forthan Scholarship.

Cost: $110 for full day of trainings (6 CEUs); $60 for AM or PM training (3 CEUs).

Intergenerational Trauma and the Impact on the African-American Psyche

Featuring: Anthony Jordan, MPA, CADC II, CRM

When: 8:30am-12:00pm (registration starts at 8:00)

Purpose

This class focuses on working with African-Americans in a behavioral health setting. We will explore the impact of intergenerational trauma on the Black community. You will leave with a broader understanding of the impact of displacement, slavery and genocide on Black communities today.

Anthony Jordan, MPA, CADC II, CRM

Anthony Jordan MPA, CADC II, CRM holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science with a Minor in Administration of Justice, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Portland State University. He is currently the Addiction Services Manager for Multnomah County Mental Health and Addiction Services Division. He has over 20-years working in the field of addiction. He is a member of the Governor’s Alcohol and Drug Policy Commission. He was a Board Member at the Addiction Counselor Certification Board of Oregon and the Miracles Club.

Anthony has dedicated his life to improving the lives of Black people by fighting against injustices, disparities, and educating audiences on the impact of historical trauma has had on the Black experience.

Closing the Gap Between the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Vision and Reality

Featuring: Cliff Jones

When: 1:00pm – 4:30pm (registration starts at 12:30pm)

Purpose

Much work has been done on many fronts in the last 25 years related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion awareness building and education. That is an important and critical step in building the capacity to change oneself and to change organizations. And awareness building and education alone are not sufficient to close the gap between our vision for diversity, equity and inclusion and the current reality in our lives and in our organizations.

This workshop will support us to examine the disciplines of change management and organizational development in the context of diversity, equity and inclusion. We will explore concrete mindsets, skills and tools for closing the gap which include the change formula, developing DEI outcomes, organizational defensive routines and systems analysis and change.

The intent is to stimulate your thinking and action towards substantial organizational change towards the organization you want and hope for.

Cliff Jones

Cliff Jones is a Senior Consultant with the Nonprofit Association of Oregon and a human rights activist with over 30 years’ experience in social services, community education, and human rights advocacy. He has experience as a frontline staff, supervisor, project manager, and executive director. He is co-founder of Tools for Diversity, a comprehensive curriculum led by a multi-cultural team that addresses problems caused by discrimination and prejudice and supports building culturally competent organizations.

Cliff has served on the Boards of McKenzie River Gathering Foundation, Funding Exchange Foundation, Oregon Minority AIDS Coalition, Multnomah Legal Service Workers Union, and Peer Counseling Community. He has been a trainer for the Black Leadership and Community Development Institute and is a recipient of Nordstrom’s Cultural Diversity Community Service Award.
